why does a really really really good time, and nice day have to turn into a total f***ing nightmare?

|

Friday, January 30

ok...
am going to my exam, having had enough sleep to function and having actyally revised three of the 6 topics. choice of 3 out of seven questions in the exam so hopefully ok.
early night tonight methinks...

|

w00t! got the big essay done... its loooooooong.. lol

just got back from seeing meat loaf. a v good gig. would like the bootleg...

|

Thursday, January 29

half the essay is done - will have the other half done by 12 (i hope) and then it needs checking, which sopmeone has kindly offered to do, but if anyone would like to read it then let me know in the comments, and ill let you know its secret location ;-)

yesterday was one of those days where /everything/ is out to get me - clothes horses, big knives, paths etc.... - i have a large bruise above my elbow from the clothes horse leaping up to attack me as i came downstairs yesterday, and then i went to the postbox during a lull in the wind, only to find that the hilly path on which i live at the top of, had only been gritsalted for the first coulple of meters so i nearly skiied down there and straight into the path of oncoming traffic on south road.... fortunately i managed to /not/ do that and just nearly ended up sliding down to the bottom of burgoyne road :( then i was making a stew to last for the next few days, and moved my thumb to get more leverage on the slightly hard to cut without the correct knife parsnips and pressed down... hard .... so after a quick hop around the kitchen desperately looking for something to apply pressure with (and ending up with loo roll - it was cleaner than anything else :S ) proceeded to hold it, as the fone rang. no one else was going to answer so i picked up to find it was my grandma ringing from spain - where they live now, - talk about timing though.... i couldnt tell her to go away... so i just ran it under the tap... after a couple of minutes her fone card ran out though so i strapped it up and continued cooking... the stew is okay- its not a patch on the last one... but maybe thats cause i added meat to make it almost goulashy and the meat wasnt the nicest ive seen... but its still nice and edible, so yeah those combined with a resurgence of the chest infection/coldy/flu thing i had just before christmas due to nameless persons throwing snowballs at me INSIDE THE HOUSE grrrrrrr (not safe anywhere eh? ;-) )im all set for tomorrows three hour exam... :S

still the essay to do after finishing this one will be good prep, and then meatloaf later tonight after stomp - yey! happy buffday to jack who is currently revising for an exam tomorrow :( however after exams were going to the pub to celebrate ;-)

anyhow. once more into the breach dear friends.....

Angel
You are one of the few out there whose wings are
truly ANGELIC. Selfless, powerful, and
divine, you are one blessed with a certain
cosmic grace. You are unequalled in
peacefulness, love, and beauty. As a Being of
Light your wings are massive and a soft white
or silver. Countless feathers grace them and
radiate the light within you for all the world
to see. You are a defender, protector, and
caretaker. Comforter of the weak and forgiver
of the wrong, chances are you are taken
advantage of once in awhile, maybe quite often.
But your innocence and wisdom sees the good in
everyone and so this mistreatment does not make
you colder. Merciful to the extreme, you will
try to help misguided souls find themselves and
peace. However not all Angelics allow
themselves to be gotten the better of - the
Seraphim for example will be driven to fighting
for the sake of Justice and protection of those
less powerful. Congratulations - and don't ever
change - the world needs more people like you.

hmmm.... big day oin the world of sara...

had my first 'exam' style thing today- a group oral presentatoin - hated every minute of it...

im a terrible public speaker when it comes to expressing an opinion, and im sure that what i said was a pile of shite...
having said that- we should get good marks for use of IT- using not only a damn fine powerpoint presentation (moreso cause it was done on a mac(!) ) but also dvd (which ended up with a slight difficulty but that was the stupid players fault not ours- it turned to standby and wiped our markers out but they saw us do it so not a huge problem.) as well as using video camera - all onto a projector- meaning some wire swapping halfway through- and guess who ended uip doing the tech stuff - yup..... fortunately i wasnt responsible for operation odf the dvd player as well, or i might have been in a pickle :) - our secret weapon- dr. Barry Matlock worked well though... :) which was good- we overran (mainly due to having to find the dvd points wiped) which wasnt good, and we were probably way too harsh on the self assesment but have no idea as to how we did- everyones presentation was different- ours was possibly more formal than the others who tended to take a more chat show style thing but...... meh i dont know.

also got back the letter from the genetisists..... came back negative and i know i should be pleased about it- and i am, but its also totally frustrating cause it now leaves me back at square one - cause theres no clue with it. at least there was a possible lead there, and now there aint... a lot now depends on the next lot of tests (due in may) - so im kinda gutted.

last night was one of the more amusing nights- having heard on the grapevine that we'd be woen up on return of the boys i went to bed early in anticipation of this so that i wouldnt be too tired for today- as a result, i was wide awake 10 mins before they got in, and woke lee up.... howeverm, tey couldnt get up the stairs to me.... a while later dan wandered up, so i asked him why theyd left me alone.... he then revealed his war wounds, and i ended up getting up again, and spending a random three hours up in the middle of the night.

around 5am i started looking for flights to spain that will be cheap.... so far im looking at 60 quid return roughly...
might have to see how much a train might cost- will have to contact grandparents yet to check the dates are okay.... but need to sort it soon....

sorry if you looked and they werent there- took me a while to make this post...

|

ok, i figured id put up some photos....

this is the kind of weather we had al week- being around 20 mins from this view, i enjoyed it- very peaceful.

the next few photos are from the saturday, when we went to the fort (read down for a fuller description of what we did)

this one is me walking the plank (well, mini stone pier)

this is my best friend abbie- having decided thewall we were saton was cold, she thenwent and sat there.... not sure about the logic :)

me looking thoughtful on the rocks just below where abbie was sat on the photo above....

a much more photogenic abbie on the same rocks(even though she's refused to go down therefor 10 minutes previously..... )

the final couple are from the walk on the sunday, where i got sunburnt.....

the clearest sea ive ever seen around the coast of england..... had to take that - can see the wave retreating leaving a nice spray of foam.

abbie neglected to tell me about the wave vcreeping up behind me..... :s (incidentally, it came a fair bit higher than it looks in the photo...... )

i was already wet from the above wave so figured what they hey- may as well paddle!!!! -yup, i went paddling in the english channel on the 17th of JANUARY (even though that photo could be in june.... )

so there you go....

|

okay...

here goes...

January 13th.
ok, i began by walking into town at 4am- i love walking the streets of sheffield at that time in a morning- no rush, just nice quiet roads- walked along south road, commonside, past crookes valley, cross the roundabout and down west street, and arrived at the train station with half an hour til the train left. i always find that travelling on the train in the dark is a little unnerving, - it feels like im not attatched to anything... weird... arrived at the airport with time to spare again, but within the two hours, and the check in went well, considering it was the first time id done it by myself ever... as we boarded the plane and taxied down to where we were gonna take off the dawn was just beginning to break and it was a lovely flight- darkish below the clouds but lovely shades of colour above... no turbulence- the flight didnt play havoc with my ears and we arrived on time. a 40min bus journey brought me into the centre of dublin, and i headed off to find christchurch cathedral and dublinia, both werent open yet when i arrived so i walked by the river to get to the 'national museum of history and decorative art' and spent a good three to four hours in there looking around at all the different things in there- from jewellery, to clothes to guns to architecture to coins... marvellous! i then headed back to dublinia, to acquaint myself with the history of dublin- itself also interesting, and the interactive things were amusing. after going around the exhibition i climbed to the top of the tower where i had a wonderful view of dublin and the sea. decided to walk back into the centre and get some tea before heading back to the airport, and passed the guiness storehouse on the way- i love the smell of a brewery, one thing i really miss about sheffield sometimes is the smell of the breweries...
had local fish and chips for tea- a nice piece of plaice, and then headed back to the airport.
the flight back i was well chuffed with- it was the first time i met with turbulence and i was loving it!- it was also the first time id flown in the dark, and that was also very cool... if a little weird to see the clouds hitting the plane as we flew through them, and the 'horizontal rain'... the captain however was very friendly and kept pointing out all kinds of information that i for one would love to know, but i doint think anyone else cared about, like the altitude we were cruising at and the type of cloud we were flying through and the speed we were travelling at.... we got back 20 mins early, despite the turbulence, and i was chuffed cause it meant i should have got the 10pm plane, but just as we were about to disembark, they called a security alert which meant that unfortunately i didnt get the train and had to wait 2 hours for a connection which sucked, cause it was well cold!

january 14th.
started the day by heading for coffee with my mum, which wasnt too bad, and then got the shock of my life when i saw my coach was heading to aberd___ cause i assumed the blank was 'een' when it was actually 'are' - not much difference between the two... ones in scotland, the other wales... !
id hoped to get some sleep on the coach but no such luck, we got into dingydeath coach station 10 mins late :) so 20 mins instead of 40 i was sat on the coach to depart to bristol. didnt sleep on this one either, xept for two little dozes. again arrived 10 mins late, but the 20m wait seemed longer this time... it was nice to do the old bristol, bath, shepton mallet run again... different in winter too...

fell asleep from shepton and woke up at glastonbury, but it was enough to refresh me for the rest of the journey, and enjoyed the idea of boldly going somewhere i had never gone before.
reached weymouth on time, and met abbie and rich- took a little while to work out that wed parked on the sea front, as i couldnt smell the sea! headed back and explored rich's flat, where i was to spend the next few days and went to sleep...

January 15th.
went into the town centre and realised that the coach had actually driven down the road that both abbie and rich's abodes are situated on last night in the dark. abbie and i went for lunch just before it began to chuck it down with rain- we both had jacket potato with cottage cheese and pineapple... :) they were yummy, and then we continued our hunt for a bowl for abbie's pot-pourri and had another encounter with a weird man.... its seriously starting to weird me out... abbie was being very unsupportive and laughing at me though....
we spent the evening watching tv, playing mini pool, listening to music, and generally chatting, so a lzy day here....

January 16th
After a late start to the day we headed into the town centre again, to much better weather, and did an extremely old thing and went and had afternoon tea.... man did we feel old!- i had a hot chocolate with a scone, and abbie had a decaf mocha with some carrot cake. the hot choc wasnt anything amazing, but the pastries were lovely...
after this we still had a bit of time to kill before meeting rich from work, so went and played airhockey in the arcades for a little while, and then abbie made me demonstrate my footwork on the dance machine, and i actually did okay!!! did 5,6,7,8, stomp, and cotton eye joe, all on standard, not easy and got an AA overall! was quite impressed (tho not by the soreness later on!) we then met rich and went bowling, and i was pleased with my scores too- i havent been any good since the whole fiasco with the physio and my wrists, but a 95 and 105 were quite good- not a patch on rich's second game - but he works there so.... :)
we called at the video shop on the way back and got out the hot chick- quite a funny film!!!!

January 17th
Abbie and I went for a walk, and decided to head up to the Nothe Fort - looks like an old Home Front defence place, but it was closed out of season except for sundays, so we decided to walk around te area for a bit, so wandered towards portland and i sat and spied on the naval base there for a bit before taking some pictures.... when i get them back ill put them up- could be some fun ones... specially of me nearly going over the rocks, cause i was dashing down the hill to beat the timer!.
we then walked around the harbour to get to asda to get some stuff for tea, as id said id cook, so did, and made savoury mince, yorkshire puddings, and mashed p[otato, and finished up with a chocolate fudge brownie cake.... watched casulaty, and abbie and i both squaled when we found out what had happened to baz.... :( we then had an early night, rounded off by eye-spy in the dark.... ;-)

January 18th.
We got up around 10am, and decided to go for a walk, we decided that rather than go back to the fort, wed go the other way along the beach so we set off through the houses and across the marsh land, until we reached Lodmoor country park, and crossed onto the beach- the waves were high and the sound they made as they retreated back across the pebbles into the sea was absolutely gorgeous!!!! we walked along until we reached preston beach and sat on a bench there and ate our packed lunches whilst watching the jet skiers launching from the nearby cove.
My camera had run out a bit earlier than i thought so there are what will probably be some rather dodgy photos of me being swept uip in the sea (!)
After lunch we walked along the beach all the way back into weymouth, rather than go back the way we had come and the amzingly gorgeous weather meant that i ended uip sunburnt. we then met rich and had a couple of games of pool before heading back to the flat to watch 'dude, wheres my car?' and trainspotting.
'dude....' was a lot more amusing than i thought it would be, and my first viewing of trainspotting made me decide to watch it sometime when im a little more awake :)

January 19th
travelled back to sheffield. worked out that in the last week ive travelled 1300 miles...
got a couple of cd's in asda in bournemouth while on lunch stop. now im going to bed, ready for my 8am start in the morning....

|

Tuesday, January 13

oh yeah... something else i was gonna say- my trip out- i took the cd player back, proved it didnt work, got a refund, got the same as my old one from maplins, and the guy there was really nice, and didnt put it through as an online transaction for me... and gave me student discout without asking for it :)

got some euros (which now ive seen some im not impressed... )

went to the train station to get tickets to the airport, walked past Si on the way , got the tickets... got the bus to come back, and had this 80 year old drunk guy singing to me, and wanting to give me his number, and then asked if i was single! erm...

what is it with me and the male species this last week?!?!?!?!?

there was the escapade in the leadmill which was quite unnerving, and now this... are there any normal guys out there!! period???? (the ones i know, you're all crazy really, but you're okay by me ;-))

|

okay.. i just worked out that by tomorrow night, ill have travelled at least 200+200+60+60+270 = 790 miles, thats 1271 km for those metrics amongst you ;-)

in reality it will be closer to 850 i reckon with the coach and stuff cause i calculated the shortest routes in all ways...

now i need to decide what to do for the day today and try and find out which terminal im going from!

|

Monday, January 12

okay, well, the site is going okay, no hitches or everythign and it all works, even had a mail to it.. :D *smiles* - i like this whole webmistress malarky - admittedly i did ask in a post on JT about it if someone would check the link... but its cool...
as for today- im still trying to find out about the airport.... but i got up when i wanted to , and hope to be doing my essay in the next half an hour, and get that done before going off to see rich r about stomp stuff, and taking my cd player back to argos... (oh yeah, will tell about that in a sec... ) and checking to see whether sheffield stations ticket office is openat 5am or if i have to buy the ticket on the train- ooh and i could use some money.. argh forgot i need euros! - at least if i dont use them tomorrow i can save them to use when i go see my grandparents who moved out to south spain last friday... and then when i get back, im gonna do some more of the other essay, and take that with me to abbies- or at least do some of the reading there....

so ya.. the cd player...
ok.. well mine 'went missing' the week before christmas - at first i thought id just left it at either my house or my parents house, but it seems to have not been found anywhere id been in the two days i had it previously, so im actually wondering if it might have been stolen... - whatever actually happened to it, its gone.. so i decided to buy another one... now, ive always bought cd/mp3 players, because i dont have to take loads of cds then... and the last one id bought cost me 40 quid from maplins, and worked really well- the one before that cost the same and also still works but is a little bit broken so i cant really take it anywhere- but still has use... so being a little poor, i thought id try and get the same one again, looked on the maplins website to find it had gone down to 30 quid, and thought 'typical' (the first one id bought did that too.... :S ) ill go down tomorrow and buy it... anyhow... i ended up looking the day after to find it had gone up to 60quid, which is out of my range, so i started looking on amazon and ebuyer and dabs etc to see if i could find it, or a similar one, and didnt find anything under 80 quid... so i went and looked around some places like dixons etc.... eventually found one in argos at 30 quid, so went and did my usual scout around and checked it out reviews wise and stuff, and deliberated as to whether alba is a good make in terms of audio stuff, (not the best... but its better than goodmans.. ) and the reviews said that it is a good mp3 cd player, but not as good for audio cd... whichwas fine, so i bought it... got it home to test it, and realising that my mp3 cd had been in the /other/ player, made another one.. which had 153 tracks on it, put it in and it insisted there were only 77 tracks..... which made me raise an eyebrow... checked the cd.. fine... so wondered if it was a dir. problem, and remade the cd but ensured that there were less than 77 tracks in each of the three directories, in case it was a weird thign where the counter only counts up to 77 (which has happened before, but it usually tells you!)
dir. 1 had 59 tracks,
dir. 2 had 43
dir. 3 had 53 .... so i figured it would be okay.. put the cd in the player and it told me that dir one had 44 tracks, 2 had 39 tracks, and 3 had 38, so this time it had found 121 out of the 153 tracks.... so i either have a faulty cd player or they can t count, so im going to take it back with the cd's and some batteries and test the replacement which they WILL give me on the spot, and if i have the same problem demand a refund cause its not useful.

however- i have just looked at maplins website again, and its come back down to 40 pounds so hopefully i can get another of the same......

meh!

hehe... anyhow... lots to catch up on for some people here, now....

oh and why does no one comment any more?????

so more waiting... oh and i should hear from genetics soon...

in other news im going to ireland on tuesday- walk off the plane, head back to sheffield, pick up my bags and travel 11 hours to weymouth, where im going to see abbie for the week from there... i was gonna go this wednesday, but to get the cheap travel i had to book a week in advance, which is a shame... - i had the option of going straight from the plane..... but i decided against that... so yep- im outta here for a week.

also saw craig j tonight....

and found out when the sky at night is repeated cause i wanna tape it... it was amazing this week...
im soooooooooooooooo getting back into astronomy...

Sunday, January 4

this goes out to someone... quite apt really... :(

I would not have chosen the road you have taken
It has left us miles apart
Well I think I can still find a will to keep going
Somewhere in my broken heart

So Fly
Go ahead and fly
Until you find out who you are
'Cause I
Will keep my love unspoken
Somewhere in my broken heart

I hope that in time
You will find what you longed for
Love that's written in the stars
And when you finally do
I think you'll see it
Somewhere in my broken heart

Your Stranger In This Town!
Your very soulful. You do things you believe in.
You sometimes do things without thinking but in
the end they turn out okay.

i spose id best enlighten you all as to what ive been up to then..

the answer is not a lot!
i welcomed in the new year walking down home from ed's house - haveing had a prac, and teaching him to play card games and we were on cross lane as the bell tolled, and saw some nice fireworks, and then were wished a happy new year by some lads who were hanging out of their window, which was amusing, and then slid down the steep bit of the hill back to mine, proceeded to have a weird snowball fight with lee and cooky, from my room(!) - i got a snowball thrown at my window at around 1.30 am and proceeded to throw them back seeing as i have roof for my window ledge! only got one in my room as well!- i got cooky on both ankles tho... :)

ive really not done much... coming up is my trip to dublin, and im looking forwards to that... theres also an offer on national express at the moment, so im gonna try and get to see rich and tracy sometime in the next few weeks, and then thats it other than going to see my grandparents in spain, cause i need to either scrimp and save and buy asda smartprice until i graduate, or get a job that will give me 100 pounds a month so i can put 20 pounds into the america fund a month... i reckon that if i can put in 20 quid a month, plus any presents (birthday christmas etc) then i can put in 18*20 = 360 plus 80 for presents = 440 pounds added to the 500 i got = 940 pounds if i can get a job then id like to be able to have 1200 quid in there altogether...

gonna go do some journeying tomorrow... and get some shopping done
and study! do my essays!

oh yeah, and we recorded the parody of the christmas number one.....
if you want to hear it then download it here and let me know what you think!

tonight i might be headed to ecclesall youth to meet up with some people i havent seen in a while... or i might not be...
